Shentel CFO Adele Skolits leaves at short notice

(exechange) — Edinburg, Virginia, October 23, 2017 — Adele Skolits, finance chief of Shentel, leaves. It is a change at short notice. As announced by Shenandoah Telecommunications Company in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Monday, October 23, 2017, Adele M. Skolits leaves the post as Chief Financial Officer at the telecommunications company after ten years in the position, effective November 07, 2017.

It is the end of an era.

Among the 3,000 largest publicly held companies incorporated in the U.S. based on market capitalization, only 18 percent of the CFOs who departed over the past twelve months left after more than ten years. Overall, the average tenure of those who left was 5.6 years, according to data compiled by exechange.

Skolits’ duties are taken over in the interim by Earle MacKenzie, currently Chief Operating Officer at Shenandoah Telecommunications Company.

Skolits will be CFO at Buckeye Broadband

“Ms. Skolits has accepted the position of Chief Financial Officer of privately-held Buckeye Broadband in Toledo, Ohio.  Her move to Toledo gives her the opportunity to live closer to family members, and an expected grandchild, who also live in the Toledo area,” Shentel said.


Shentel said: “Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Adele Skolits has informed the company that she is resigning effective November 7, 2017.”

Share price rise since August 2016

The change follows a rise in the share price of Shenandoah Telecommunications Company since August 2016.

Shenandoah Telecommunications Company is chaired by Christopher E. French.

Chris French is President and Chief Executive Officer of Shenandoah Telecommunications. He has served as chairman of the Board since 1996.

In the position of CFO since 2007

Adele M. Skolits has been the Chief Financial Officer of Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. since November 2007.

Skolits serves as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President – Finance at Shentel.

She joined the Company in 2007 and is responsible for Shentel’s daily financial decisions.

Skolits’ industry experience began in 1995 and included three years with Revol Wireless where she served as Chief Financial Officer.

Skolits’ telecommunications experience also includes serving as Controller for Comcast Metrophone, Director of Financial Operations for Comcast Cellular Communications and Chief Financial Officer of City Signal Communications.

Skolits earned a BS degree in Commerce with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Virginia.
