(exechange) — Baton Rouge, Louisiana, November 17, 2022 — Chris Gerard, chief executive of Amedisys, leaves. As announced by Amedisys Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Thursday, November 17, 2022, Christopher T. (Chris) Gerard, chief executive officer, leaves the healthcare at home company, after about half a year in the role, effective immediately.

Amedisys will undertake a search for a successor.

Chris Gerard’s duties as CEO will be taken over temporarily by Paul B. Kusserow, most recently Chairman of the Board of Directors at Amedisys Inc., as Interim Chief Executive Officer.

“Growth and innovative mindset”

Amedisys did not give an explicit reason for Chris Gerard’s sudden departure from the CEO post. Julie D. Klapstein, Lead Independent Director of Amedisys, stated: “Paul’s growth and innovative mindset is a critical and stabilizing force to the Company.”

Precise information regarding Chris Gerard’s future plans was not immediately available.

“Leave the company/terminated without cause”

Amedisys said: “President and Chief Executive Officer, Chris Gerard, will leave the company effective November 17, 2022.”

Amedisys further said: “Christopher T. Gerard, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and President, was terminated without cause, effective immediately.”

Share price decline since April 2022

The announcement follows a decline in Amedisys Inc.’s share price of 50% since April 2022. April 2022 is the month in which Gerard’s tenure as CEO began.

In the position of CEO since 2022

Chris Gerard became CEO of the Company in 2022.

Christopher T. Gerard was the Company’s President (since February 2021) and Chief Executive Officer (since April 2022).

He also served as the Company’s Chief Operating Officer from January 2017 until his appointment as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer effective April 15, 2022.

Gerard previously served as President for the South Central Region of Kindred at Home, a division of Kindred Healthcare, Inc., a healthcare services company, from 2015 to 2016.

Prior to his role as Regional President, Gerard was the Chief Operating Officer at Kindred at Home from 2014 to 2015.

Gerard joined Kindred in 2012 as Regional Vice President when Kindred acquired IntegraCare Holdings, Inc., a home health, hospice and community care agency based in Grapevine, Texas.

Gerard was an original founder of IntegraCare in 1998 and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer from 2007 to 2012.
