(exechange) — Roseland, New Jersey, October 26, 2022 — Carlos Rodriguez, chief executive of ADP, leaves his position. As announced by Automatic Data Processing Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Carlos A. Rodriguez leaves his post as chief executive officer at the provider of human resources management software, after about 11 years in the role, effective January 1, 2023.

Carlos Rodriguez’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Maria Black, currently president at Automatic Data Processing Inc.

“Strong succession planning process”

Carlos Rodriguez’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. John P. Jones, chairman of the board for ADP, said: “Maria’s appointment to CEO demonstrates ADP’s commitment to leadership development and the company’s strong succession planning process.”

Rodriguez will remain as executive chair at ADP

“Upon the transition, Mr. Rodriguez will serve as executive chair of the board. John P. Jones, the current chairman of the board, will assume an independent lead director role on the board, also effective January 1, 2023,” ADP said.

ADP said: “ADP, a leading global technology company providing human capital management (HCM) solutions, announced today that its board of directors has appointed Maria Black to succeed Carlos Rodriguez as the company’s chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2023.”

Share price increase since October 2017

The announcement follows an increase in Automatic Data Processing Inc.’s share price of 117% since October 2017.

In the position of CEO since 2011

Carlos Rodriguez became CEO of the Company in 2011.

Rodriguez is chief executive officer of the company.

He served as president and chief operating officer of the company before he was appointed to his current position in November 2011 and as president through 2021.

Having started his career at the company in 1999, Rodriguez previously served as president of several key businesses, including National Accounts Services, Employer Services International, Small Business Solutions, and Professional Employer Organization, giving him deep institutional knowledge across the company’s business.

Rodriguez is currently a director of Microsoft Corporation.
