(exechange) — New York, September 7, 2022 — Dexter Goei, chief executive of Altice USA, leaves his position — as “mutually agreed.” As announced by Altice USA Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, Dexter Goei leaves his post as chief executive officer at the broadband communications and video services provider, after almost seven years in the role, effective October 3, 2022.

Dexter Goei’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Dennis Mathew, most recently Senior Vice President, Freedom Region at Comcast Corporation.

The fact that Dexter Goei’s successor is brought in from outside suggests that the board may seek to stimulate change with fresh ideas and new initiatives.

In general, an outsider does not have the constraints of an insider when it comes to leading painful changes or making unpopular decisions.

“Intention to return to Europe with his family”

Dexter Goei’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Altice USA said: “Given Mr. Goei’s intention to return to Europe with his family, with his involvement the Board undertook a comprehensive search for its new CEO to identify the best leader to advance Altice USA into its next phase of growth and ensure strategic continuity.”

Goei will remain as Executive Chairman at Altice USA

“Mr. Mathew assumes the CEO role from Dexter Goei who has been named Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, also effective October 3, 2022,” Altice USA said.

Altice USA said: “On September 7, 2022, Altice USA, Inc. (the “Company”) announced that as part of ongoing succession planning, the Company and Dexter Goei, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”), mutually agreed to Mr. Goei’s resignation from his role as CEO and the appointment of Dennis Mathew as the Company’s new CEO, effective on October 3, 2022.”

Share price decline since September 2017

The announcement follows a decline in Altice USA Inc.’s share price of 68% since September 2017.

In the position of CEO since 2016

Dexter Goei became CEO of the Company in 2016.

Dexter Goei has served as Chief Executive Officer of Altice USA since 2016.

Goei was chairman of the boards of Altice USA and Altice Europe until the Distribution and a director of Altice Europe until October 2018.

Goei first joined the Altice Group as Chief Executive Officer in 2009, helping to lead its development and growth from a French cable operator to a multinational telecoms operator with fixed and mobile assets across six different territories serving both residential and enterprise clients.

Prior to joining the Altice Group, Goei spent 15 years in investment banking first with JPMorgan and then Morgan Stanley in their Media & Communications Group in New York, Los Angeles and London.

He was Co‑Head of Morgan Stanley’s European Media & Communications Group when he left to join Altice.

Goei is a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service with cum laude honors.
