As announced by GameStop Corp. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Thursday, July 7, 2022, Michael (Mike) Recupero leaves his post as chief financial officer at the video game, consumer electronics, and gaming merchandise retailer, after about a year in the role, effective immediately.

Mike Recupero’s duties as CFO will be taken over by Diana Saadeh-Jajeh, most recently Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer at GameStop Corp.

No reason given

In the announcement, GameStop did not explicitly explain the reason for the move.

Precise information regarding Mike Recupero’s future plans was not immediately available.

GameStop said: “GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) (“GameStop” or the “Company”) today announced the appointment of Diana Saadeh-Jajeh as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Ms. Saadeh-Jajeh previously held the role on an interim basis in 2021 and most recently served as the Company’s Chief Accounting Officer. The appointment coincides with the Company’s termination of the employment of Michael Recupero.”

GameStop further said: “On July 7, 2022, GameStop Corp. (the “Company”) terminated the employment of Michael Recupero as its Chief Financial Officer effective immediately.”

Share price decline since July 2021

The announcement follows a decline in GameStop Corp.’s share price of 43% since July 2021. July 2021 is the month in which Recupero’s tenure as CFO began.

Michael Recupero served as the Company’s Chief Financial Officer since July 2021.

Prior to joining the Company, Recupero served as Chief Financial Officer of the North American Consumer business of Amazon since January 2021 after serving as Chief Financial Officer of the Prime Video business of Amazon since April 2019 and previously serving as Chief Financial Officer of the European Consumer business of Amazon since October 2016.

Prior to those roles, Recupero served in various other roles at Amazon focused on finance since joining Amazon in April 2004.
