(exechange) — Dallas, Texas, March 14, 2022 — Charlie Morrison, chief executive of Wingstop, leaves. As announced by Wingstop Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Monday, March 14, 2022, Charles R. (Charlie) Morrison has left his post as chief executive officer at the chain of nostalgic, aviation-themed restaurants specializing in chicken wings, after almost 10 years in the role, effective March 13, 2022.

Charlie Morrison’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Michael Skipworth, most recently President and Chief Operating Officer at Wingstop Inc.

Lynn Crump-Caine, the Lead Independent Director, was appointed to succeed Charlie Morrison as Chair.

Morrison will be CEO at Salad And Go

“Charlie resigned from the company to become CEO of Salad And Go, where he serves on the Board of Directors,” Wingstop said.

Salad And Go is a salad drive-thru restaurant chain located throughout the Phoenix Valley.

Wingstop said: “Wingstop (NASDAQ: WING) today announced the resignation of its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Morrison and the appointment of President and Chief Operating Officer Michael Skipworth as successor Chief Executive Officer, effective March 13, 2022.”

Wingstop further said: “Mr. Skipworth succeeds Charles Morrison, the Company’s current Chief Executive Officer, who tendered on March 10, 2022 his resignation as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board to become Chief Executive Officer of Salad And Go, a private equity sponsored, non-competitive company, where he serves on the Board of Directors.”

Share price increase since March 2017

The announcement follows an increase in Wingstop Inc.’s share price of 356% since March 2017.

In the position of CEO since 2012

Charlie Morrison became CEO of the Company in 2012.

Morrison has served as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer since June 2012, as the Company’s Chairman since March 2017, and a member of the Company’s Board since September 2012.

Morrison currently serves as a director of And Go Concepts Holdings, LLC, which operates in the food and beverage industry.

Prior to joining Wingstop, he was Chief Executive Officer of Rave Restaurant Group, Inc., a publicly traded international pizza chain, from January 2007 to June 2012.

Morrison has also held multiple senior leadership positions during his more than 20 years of restaurant experience, including serving as President of Steak & Ale and The Tavern Restaurants for Metromedia Restaurant Group, as well as various management positions at Kinko’s, Boston Market, and Pizza Hut.

Morrison was recognized in 2016 by the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association with the Silver Plate award, which pays tribute to the most outstanding and innovative talents in foodservice operations and received in 2015 the Nation’s Restaurant News’ Golden Chain Award, an honor bestowed on those representing the very best that the restaurant industry has to offer.
