(exechange) — Somerset, New Jersey, January 5, 2022 — John Chiminski, chief executive of Catalent, leaves his position. As announced by Catalent Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, John R. Chiminski leaves his post as chief executive officer at the provider of delivery technologies, development, drug manufacturing, biologics, gene therapies and consumer health products, after around 13 years in the role, effective July 1, 2022.

John Chiminski’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Alessandro Maselli, currently President and Chief Operating Officer at Catalent Inc.

No reason given

In the announcement, Catalent did not explicitly explain the reason for the move.

Chiminski will remain as Executive Chair at Catalent

“Current Chair and Chief Executive Officer John Chiminski will remain in his present role until July 1, 2022, when he will assume the position of Executive Chair of the Board,” Catalent said.

“Transition out of his role as CEO”

Catalent said: “John R. Chiminski, Chair and CEO, will transition out of his role as CEO and into the role of Executive Chair effective July 1, 2022.”

Share price increase since January 2019

The announcement follows an increase in Catalent Inc.’s share price of 287% since January 2019.

In the position of CEO since 2009

John Chiminski became CEO of the Company in 2009.

John Chiminski has led Catalent as Chief Executive Officer since March 2009.

He joined the Company after more than 20 years of experience at GE Healthcare in engineering, operations, and senior leadership roles.

From 2007 to 2009, Chiminski was President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Medical Diagnostics, a global business with sales of $1.9 billion.

From 2005 to 2007, he served as Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare’s Global Magnetic Resonance Business, and from 2001 to 2005, as Vice President and General Manager of Global Healthcare Services.

Earlier at GE, he held a series of cross-functional leadership positions in both manufacturing and engineering, including a GE Medical Systems assignment in France.

Chiminski has served as a director of Berkeley Lights, Inc. since May 2021.

He holds a B.S. from Michigan State University and an M.S. from Purdue University, both in electrical engineering, as well as a Master’s degree in Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
