(exechange) — Waltham, Massachusetts, November 15, 2021 — John Van Siclen, chief executive of Dynatrace, leaves — “upon mutual agreement with the Company’s Board of Directors.” As announced by Dynatrace Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Monday, November 15, 2021, John Van Siclen leaves his post as chief executive officer at the software company, after 13 years in the role, effective no later than December 13, 2021.

John Van Siclen’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Rick M. McConnell, most recently President and General Manager, Security Technology Group at Akamai Technologies, Inc.

The fact that John Van Siclen’s successor is brought in from outside suggests that the board may seek to stimulate change with fresh ideas and new initiatives.

John Van Siclen’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. John Van Siclen said: “After 13 amazing years leading this great company, it’s time for me to move on to the next phase in my life.”

Precise information regarding John Van Siclen’s future plans was not immediately available.

“Retire”

Dynatrace said: “CEO and Director, John Van Siclen, plans to retire effective December 13, 2021.”

Dynatrace further said: “On November 15, 2021, the Company announced that, in connection with his planned retirement, John Van Siclen will resign upon mutual agreement with the Company’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) as the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer and as a director of the Board, effective no later than December 13, 2021.”

“Not the result of any disagreements”

“Mr. Van Siclen’s resignation is not the result of any disagreements with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices,” Dynatrace said.

Share price increase since November 2019

The announcement follows an increase in Dynatrace Inc.’s share price of 251% since November 2019.

In the position of CEO since 2008

John Van Siclen became CEO of the Company in 2008.

Van Siclen will remain as a consultant to the Company through May 31, 2022 to facilitate the CEO transition.

John Van Siclen has served as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer since 2008 and on the Company’s Board since December 2014.

He has over 35 years of experience developing and leading technology companies in a variety of markets including networking, database, content management and broadband.

In 2012, Van Siclen was recognized by CRN magazine as a “Top 25 Disrupter”, and in 2018, 2019 and 2020 he was recognized by Comparably as one of the top CEOs in America for companies over 500 employees.

Prior to Dynatrace, Van Siclen was Chief Executive Officer of Adesso Systems, Inc. from July 2006 until December 2007.

Van Siclen also held several executive positions at Interwoven Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV) from January 2000 until June 2003 last serving as its Chief Executive Officer from January 2002 through June 2003.

Van Siclen holds a B.A. in History from Princeton University.
