(exechange) — Boston, Massachusetts, November 1, 2021 — Dimitri Kazarinoff, chief executive of XL Fleet, leaves. As announced by XL Fleet Corp. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Monday, November 1, 2021, Dimitri N. Kazarinoff leaves his post as chief executive officer at the provider of vehicle electrification products for commercial and municipal fleets, after about a year in the role, effective December 1, 2021.
Dimitri Kazarinoff’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Eric Tech, most recently Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Navistar.
The fact that Dimitri Kazarinoff’s successor is brought in from outside suggests that the board may seek to stimulate change with fresh ideas and new initiatives.
In general, an outsider does not have the constraints of an insider when it comes to leading painful changes or making unpopular decisions.
“To pursue other career opportunities”
Dimitri Kazarinoff’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. XL Fleet said: “Mr. Tech succeeds Dimitri Kazarinoff, who is stepping down from his position as Chief Executive Officer to pursue other career opportunities.”
Precise information regarding Dimitri Kazarinoff’s future plans was not immediately available.
Share price decline since January 2021
The announcement follows a decline in XL Fleet Corp.’s share price of 73% since January 2021.

Dimitri Kazarinoff became CEO of the Company in 2020.
Kazarinoff will support Tech to help ensure a smooth leadership transition through the end of the year.
Dimitri N. Kazarinoff has served as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Company’s board of directors since December 2020.
Kazarinoff has served as Chief Executive Officer and President and as a member of the board of directors of XL Hybrids, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company (“XL Hybrids”), since October 2019.
Kazarinoff has many years of experience as a transportation industry executive.
Prior to his service with XL Fleet, from September 2011 through July 2019, he served as President of AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc. and from January 2008 through April 2011, he served as the V.P. & GM of Eaton’s Hybrid Power Systems Division.
Kazarinoff holds a BS ME from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Masters of Management degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
