(exechange) — New York, July 6, 2021 — Ryan Schulke, chief executive of Fluent, leaves his position. As announced by Fluent Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Ryan Schulke has left his post as chief executive officer at the performance marketing company after about three years in the role, effective July 1, 2021.

Ryan Schulke’s duties as CEO will be taken over temporarily by Donald (Don) Patrick, most recently Chief Operating Officer at Fluent Inc., as Interim Chief Executive Officer.

It is a reverse generational change. Don Patrick is about 22 years older than Ryan Schulke.

Ryan Schulke’s move forms part of a management shake-up also involving the position of Chief Customer Officer.

The management change is explained as follows. Fluent said: “Fluent, Inc.  (NASDAQ: FLNT), a leading data-driven, performance marketing company, announced changes to its leadership and management team to place greater focus on strategic growth initiatives. The company continues its commitment to quality, which is the decided path to expanding strategic partnerships with leading global brands. In addition, the changes will further expand Fluent’s ability to deliver relevant experiences that connect consumers to world-class brands, products, and services.”

Schulke will remain as Chief Strategy Officer and Chairman at Fluent

“As Co-Founder of the Company and having served as Fluent’s CEO since the inception of the business, Ryan Schulke is invigorated by his move into the new role of Chief Strategy Officer. … Ryan Schulke has also been appointed as Chairman of Fluent’s Board of Directors, overseeing the strategic direction of the Company,” Fluent said.

“Resigned”

Fluent said: “Ryan Schulke, age 38, resigned as Chief Executive Officer of the Company and was appointed Chief Strategy Officer of the Company.”

Share price decline since February 2021

The announcement follows a decline in Fluent Inc.’s share price of 52% since February 2021.

In the position of CEO since 2018

Ryan Schulke became CEO of the Company in 2018.

Ryan Schulke has served as a director of the Company since December 2015 and has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Company since March 26, 2018.

Schulke co-founded Fluent, LLC in 2010 and has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fluent, LLC since its inception.

Before merging with the Company in 2015, Fluent, LLC was privately held.

Fluent, LLC is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company.

Prior to founding Fluent, LLC, Schulke served as Media Director of Clash Media, a global digital advertising network.

Schulke earned a Bachelor of Communications Arts from Marymont Manhattan College.
