(exechange) — New York, June 7, 2021 — Dick Robinson, chief executive of Scholastic, has died. Scholastic announced his death on Sunday, June 6, 2021. M.Richard (Dick) Robinson has been in the role of Chief Executive Officer at Scholastic Corporation for 46 years. He died at age 84.

Following Dick Robinson’s death, the position of Chief Executive Officer will not be filled for the time being. Dick Robinson’s responsibilities are being redistributed.

Scholastic said: “M. Richard Robinson, Jr. the Company’s Chairman and CEO passed away yesterday unexpectedly. Mr. Robinson, 84 years old, had been in excellent health and had been overseeing Scholastic’s long-term strategic direction and day-to-day operations for the better part of five decades.”

Dick Robinson became CEO of the Company in 1975.

Robinson has served as Chairman of the Board of the Company and/or Scholastic Inc. since 1982, as Chief Executive Officer since 1975 and as President since 1974.

He has held various executive management and editorial positions with the Company since joining in 1962.
