As announced by Shoe Carnival Inc. in a news release on Thursday, March 18, 2021, Clifton E. (Cliff) Sifford leaves his post as chief executive officer at the retailer of moderately priced footwear and accessories after nine years in the role, effective September 30, 2021.

Cliff Sifford’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Mark J. Worden, currently President and Chief Customer Officer of Shoe Carnival Inc.

“Positioned to take over as CEO at the right time”

Cliff Sifford’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Sifford said: “When Mark joined Shoe Carnival nearly three years ago, our objective was to bring onboard an executive officer who would be positioned to take over as CEO at the right time.”

Sifford will remain as Vice Chairman at Shoe Carnival

“Mr. Worden will succeed Cliff Sifford, who will step down as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer effective September 30, 2021 but will continue to serve in the role of Vice Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors,” Shoe Carnival said.

Share price increase since March 2020

The announcement follows an increase in Shoe Carnival Inc.’s share price of 89% since March 2020.
