As announced by Steris Plc in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, Walter M (Walt) Rosebrough leaves his post as chief executive officer of the American Irish-domiciled medical equipment company after almost 14 years in the role, effective July 29, 2021.

Walt Rosebrough’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Daniel A. (Dan) Carestio, currently Chief Operating Officer of Steris Plc.

“Well-planned and thoughtful succession process”

Walt Rosebrough’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Mohsen Sohi, Chairman of the Board, said: “This announcement follows a well-planned and thoughtful succession process, which prioritizes developing leaders from within the Company.”

Precise information regarding Walt Rosebrough’s future plans was not immediately available.

“Step down/retire”

Steris said: “Walt Rosebrough, President and CEO, has announced his intention to step down on July 29, 2021, in conjunction with the company’s Annual General Meeting.”

Steris further said: “On January 29, 2021, Walter M Rosebrough advised the Board of Directors (the “Board”) of Steris plc (the “Company”) of his intention to retire as President and CEO of the Company at the Company’s 2021 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, to be held on July 29, 2021.”

Share price increase since October 2007

The announcement follows an increase in Steris Plc’s share price of 585% since October 2007. October 2007 is the month in which Rosebrough’s tenure as CEO began.

Mohsen Sohi serves as Steris Plc’s Chairman.

Mohsen M. Sohi serves as director since July 2005, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Steris since July 28, 2018. Since July 2012, Sohi has served as Chief Executive Officer of Freudenberg and Co., a general multi-industry company serving industries that include automotive, medical, aerospace, oil and gas, and power generation and transmission.

In the position of CEO since 2007

Walt Rosebrough became CEO of the Company in 2007.

Rosebrough will remain as CEO Emeritus and Senior Advisor to Steris’s leadership and Board for the next two years.

Walter M Rosebrough, Jr., serves as Director and President and Chief Executive Officer since October 2007.

From February 2005 to September 2007, Rosebrough served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Hydraulics, Inc., a hydraulic and pneumatic systems company he purchased in 2005, and he continues to serve on its board of directors.

Previously, Rosebrough spent nearly 20 years in the healthcare industry in various roles as a senior executive with Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. (at the time, Hillenbrand Industries, Inc.), a worldwide provider of medical equipment and related services, including President and Chief Executive Officer of Support Systems International and President and Chief Executive Officer of Hill-Rom.

Rosebrough is a director of Varex Imaging Corp.
