As announced by Limelight Networks Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, Robert A. (Bob) Lento leaves his post as chief executive officer of the provider of digital content delivery and edge services after about eight years in the role, effective February 1, 2021.
Bob Lento’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Bob Lyons, most recently Chief Executive Officer of Alert Logic.
The fact that Bob Lento’s successor is brought in from outside suggests that the board may seek to stimulate change with fresh ideas and new initiatives.

Limelight did not give an explicit reason for Bob Lento’s departure from the CEO post, leaving room for speculation. Limelight said: “Lyons is a proven technology executive with an extraordinary track record of successfully scaling businesses and creating enterprise value through strategic revitalization, improved profitability, and revenue growth.”
Precise information regarding Bob Lento’s future plans was not immediately available.

Share price decline since July 2020
The announcement follows a decline in Limelight Networks Inc.’s share price of 49% since July 2020.
