(exechange) — Columbus, Ohio, December 15, 2020 — Olivier Filliol, chief executive of Mettler-Toledo, leaves. As announced by Mettler-Toledo International Inc. in a news release on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, Olivier A. Filliol leaves his post as chief executive officer of the supplier of precision instruments after around 13 years in the role, effective April 1, 2021.

Olivier Filliol’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Patrick K. Kaltenbach, currently President of the Life Sciences Segment of Becton Dickinson.

The fact that Olivier Filliol’s successor is brought in from outside suggests that the board may seek to stimulate change with fresh ideas and new initiatives.

Olivier Filliol’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Filliol said: “The timing of this transition is ideal, as our organization has never been stronger.”

Precise information regarding Olivier Filliol’s future plans was not immediately available.

Mettler-Toledo said: “Olivier Filliol, after 13 years as CEO, has chosen to step down and the Board of Directors has agreed on a CEO transition.”

Prior to his current role with the company, Filliol served the company as: Head of Global Sales, Service and Marketing from April 2004 to December 2007; Head of Process Analytics from June 1999 to December 2007; and General Manager of the U.S. checkweighing operations from June 1998 to June 1999.

Prior to joining the company, Filliol was a Strategy Consultant with the international consulting firm Bain & Company working in the Geneva, Paris, and Sydney offices.
