(exechange) — San Jose, California, August 27, 2020 — Dheeraj Pandey, chief executive of Nutanix, leaves. As announced by Nutanix Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Thursday, August 27, 2020, Dheeraj Pandey leaves his post as chief executive officer at the enterprise cloud computing company after 11 years in the role, effective upon the selection and appointment of the Company’s next CEO.

Nutanix will undertake a search for a successor.

“There is no better time”

Dheeraj Pandey’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Pandey said: “I am confident there is no better time for me to make this transition to a new leader who can guide Nutanix through its next decade of growth and success.”

Precise information regarding Dheeraj Pandey’s future plans was not immediately available.

“Retire”

Nutanix said: “Dheeraj Pandey plans to retire as CEO of Nutanix upon the selection and appointment of the Company’s next CEO.”

Nutanix further said: “On August 27, 2020, the Board announced that it has initiated a CEO succession plan to identify a candidate to succeed Dheeraj Pandey, given Mr. Pandey’s plans to retire as Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Pandey intends to continue as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer until his successor has been selected and appointed.”

Share price decline

The announcement follows a decline in Nutanix Inc.’s share price of 56% since August 2018.

In the position of CEO since 2009

Dheeraj Pandey became CEO of the Company in 2009.

Dheeraj Pandey co-founded the Company and has served as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and as the Chairman of the Company’s board of directors since the Company’s inception in September 2009, as well as the Company’s President from September 2009 until February 2016.

Prior to co-founding the Company, Pandey served as Vice President, Engineering at Aster Data Systems (now Teradata Corporation), a data management and analysis software company, from February 2009 to September 2009 and as its Director of Engineering from September 2007 to February 2009.

Pandey has also served as a director of the board and an audit committee member of Adobe Inc., a multinational computer software company, since January 2019.

Pandey holds a B. Tech. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and was a Graduate Fellow of Computer Science in the Ph.D. program at the University of Texas at Austin.
