(exechange) — Los Angeles, California, August 6, 2020 — Therese Tucker, chief executive of BlackLine, leaves her position. As announced by BlackLine Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Thursday, August 6, 2020, Therese Tucker leaves her post as chief executive officer at the provider of accounting automation software after around 19 years in the role, effective January 1, 2021.

It is the end of an era.

Therese Tucker’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Marc Huffman, currently chief operating officer of BlackLine Inc.

“Multi-year succession plan”

Therese Tucker’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. BlackLine said: “The announced transition is part of a multi-year succession plan that has involved seeking potential successors, bringing the right person on board, seeing that person excel, and Tucker and Huffman working methodically together over several years to build out the leadership team and strategic growth plan and ensure values were aligned.”

Tucker will remain as executive chair at BlackLine

“Therese Tucker, who has served as CEO since founding BlackLine in 2001, will continue to serve on the company’s board as executive chair,” BlackLine said.

Share price increase since January 2020

The announcement follows an increase in BlackLine Inc.’s share price of 76% since January 2020.

In the position of CEO since 2001

Therese Tucker became CEO of the Company in 2001.

Tucker is the Company’s founder and has served as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Company’s board of directors since August 2001.

Prior to founding the Company, Tucker served as Chief Technology Officer for SunGard Treasury Systems, Inc. and SunGard Trading Systems, Inc., providers of software solutions and information technology services.

Tucker holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
