(exechange) — Oakland, California, August 3, 2020 — Benno Dorer, chief executive of Clorox, leaves his position. As announced by Clorox Co. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Monday, August 3, 2020, Benno Dorer leaves his post as chief executive officer at the maker of cleaning products after about six years in the role, effective September 14, 2020.

Benno Dorer’s duties as CEO will be taken over by Linda Rendle, currently president of Clorox Co.

“Long-term succession planning”

Benno Dorer’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Pamela Thomas-Graham, lead independent director of the board, said: “I’m delighted that our dedication to thoughtful, long-term succession planning positioned us to appoint such a strong and capable leader as Linda Rendle to the CEO role.”

“Benno Dorer will continue serving as the board’s executive chair,” Clorox said.

“Step down”

Clorox said: “Benno Dorer, the Company’s current chief executive officer, notified the Board on July 31, 2020 that he will step down from the role effective September 14, 2020.”

Share price increase since January 2020

The announcement follows an increase in Clorox Co.’s share price of 55% since January 2020.

In the position of CEO since 2014

Benno Dorer became CEO of the Company in 2014.

Benno Dorer has served as chief executive officer (CEO) of the Company since November 2014 and was appointed chair of the Board in August 2016.

Prior to becoming CEO, Dorer was executive vice president and chief operating officer – Cleaning, International and Corporate Strategy since January 2013, with responsibility for the Laundry, Home Care, and International businesses as well as Corporate Strategy and Growth.

He previously served as senior vice president – Cleaning Division and Canada from 2011 through 2012, senior vice president – Cleaning Division from 2009 to 2011, and vice president & general manager – Cleaning Division from 2007 to 2009.

Dorer joined Clorox in 2005 as vice president & general manager – Glad® Products.

Prior to that role, he worked for The Procter & Gamble Company for 14 years, leading the marketing organization for the Glad® products joint venture since its inception and holding marketing positions across a range of categories and countries.

Dorer serves as a director of VF Corporation (February 2017 to present).

Dorer serves as the vice chair of the executive committee of the board of GMA (Grocery Manufacturers Association).
