(exechange) — San Juan Capistrano, California, December 9, 2019 — Sally Shankland, chief executive of Emerald Expositions, leaves. As announced by Emerald Expositions Events Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Monday, December 9, 2019, Sally Shankland leaves her post as Chief Executive Officer at the operator of business-to-business trade shows after about half a year in the role, effective December 31, 2019.
Emerald Expositions will undertake a search for a successor.
Sally Shankland’s duties as CEO will be taken over in the interim by Brian Field, currently Chief Operating Officer of Emerald Expositions Events, Inc., as Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Health reasons
Sally Shankland’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Emerald Expositions said: “Sally Shankland has made the decision, for personal health reasons, to step down from her position as President and Chief Executive Officer at the end of the year and will transition to the new role of Executive Director and Senior Advisor.”
“Resigning”
Emerald Expositions said: “On December 3, 2019, Sally Shankland, the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and President of Emerald Expositions Events, Inc. (the “Company”), provided notice to the Board of Directors of the Company (the “Board”), that, effective as of the close of business on December 31, 2019, she is resigning from her positions as CEO and President of the Company and its subsidiaries.”
“Not the result of any disagreement”
“Ms. Shankland indicated that her resignation as CEO and President is entirely for health reasons and is not the result of any disagreement of any sort with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices,” Emerald Expositions said.
Share price decline
The announcement follows a decline in Emerald Expositions Events, Inc.’s share price of 13% since June 2019.

A life-long learner, Sally Shankland has participated in Executive Education Programs at Harvard Business School, Duke University, the Cranfield School of Management, and the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management.
