(exechange) — Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, December 2, 2019 — Mark Butler, chief executive of Ollie’s Bargain, has died. Ollie’s Bargain announced his death on Monday, December 2, 2019. Mark Butler has been in the role of Chief Executive Officer at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Holdings, Inc. for almost 17 years. He died at age 61.

Mark Butler’s duties as CEO will be taken over in the interim by John Swygert, most recently Chief Operating Officer of Ollie’s Bargain Outlet Holdings, Inc., as interim Chief Executive Officer.

In the position of CEO since 2003

Mark Butler became CEO of the Company in January 2003.

Mark Butler is one of the founders of Ollie’s, having been with Ollie’s since its inception in 1982.

He has been the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board since 2003, and has been Chairman of the Company’s Board since February 2005.

Prior to holding this role, Butler was the Company’s Treasurer and Secretary.

Butler also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, a national nonprofit organization focused on providing opportunities for at-risk youth.
