As announced by National Fuel Gas Co. in a news release on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, Ronald J. (Ron) Tanski leaves his post as Chief Executive Officer at the natural gas distribution company after about six and a half years in the role, effective July 1, 2019.
Among the 3,000 largest publicly held companies incorporated in the U.S. based on market capitalization, the average tenure of the CEOs who departed over the past 12 months was 7.8 years, according to data compiled by exechange.
Ron Tanski’s duties will be taken over by David P. (Dave) Bauer, currently member of the executive team of National Fuel Gas Company.

Ron Tanski’s departure from the CEO post is explained as follows. Tanski said that “this shift in leadership is the culmination of many years of preparation.”
Precise information regarding Ron Tanski’s future plans was not immediately available.
National Fuel said: “Ronald J. Tanski, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Fuel Gas Company, has indicated his intention to retire, effective July 1, 2019, after more than 40 years of service.”

Tanski has been President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company since March 2013.
Tanski served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company from July 2010 to March 2013 and as Treasurer and Principal Financial Officer from April 2004 to July 2010.
Tanski was President of National Fuel Gas Supply Corporation from July 2008 to July 2010 and President of National Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation from February 2006 to July 2008.
He was previously Treasurer of those and other subsidiaries of the Company, and he also served in management roles at Seneca Resources Corporation (now Seneca Resources Company, LLC) and Horizon Energy Development, Inc. (sold in 2010).
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (“INGAA”) and was INGAA Chairman in 2015.
Tanski is a director of the American Gas Association and a member of the Council on Accountancy at Canisius College.
He also serves as Secretary on the Board of Managers of the Buffalo Museum of Science and as a member of the Executive Committee, and he is a director of Invest Buffalo Niagara.
He will continue to serve as a member of the board of directors.
