(exechange) — Unterföhring, Germany, November 19, 2017 — Thomas Ebeling, chief executive of ProSiebenSat.1, leaves — as “mutually agreed”. As announced by ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE in a news release on Sunday, November 19, 2017, Thomas Ebeling, Chief Executive Officer, leaves the mass media company after almost nine years in the position, effective February 22, 2018.

ProSiebenSat.1 will undertake a search for a successor.

“He would not be available for a further subsequent renewal”

Ebeling’s departure from the post of CEO is explained as follows. ProSiebenSat.1 said: “Thomas Ebeling had a contract of employment with a term running until mid-2019. However, already in connection with the latest renewal of his contract of employment, he informed the Company that he would not be available for a further subsequent renewal.”

Precise information about the future plans of Ebeling was not immediately available.

“Leave the Company”

ProSiebenSat.1 said: “Thomas Ebeling, who served as chairman of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE’s Executive Board for many years, will leave the Company after the annual press conference for fiscal year 2017 scheduled for February 22, 2018. This was mutually agreed today by the chairman of the Executive Board and the Company’s Supervisory Board.”

Share price decline

The change follows a decline in the share price of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE since November 2015.

Thomas Ebeling was born in 1959.

After earning a degree in psychology from Hamburg University, he began his career with Reemtsma in 1987.

In 1991, he moved to Pepsi-Cola Germany, where he served as a marketing manager.

Starting in 1994, he was National Sales and Franchise Director for the retail and restaurant sales of Pepsi-Cola, and in 1996, he was appointed General Manager of Pepsi-Cola Germany.

In 1997, he switched to Novartis as General Manager of Novartis Nutrition for Germany and Austria.

In 1998, Thomas Ebeling assumed worldwide leadership of the Novartis Nutrition Division.

In 1998, he was appointed to the Novartis Executive Committee.

From 2000 to October 2007, he served as CEO of the global Novartis pharmaceuticals business. Under his leadership, the company’s revenues more than doubled from US$11 billion to US$22.6 billion.

In October 2007, he was appointed CEO of the Novartis Consumer Health Division.

Since March 2009, he is CEO of ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE.

Thomas Ebeling was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Bayer AG in 2012.

Since April 2017 he has been member of the Supervisory Board of GfK SE.
