(exechange) — Wilmington, Massachusetts, May 24, 2017 — Ron Croatti, chief executive of UniFirst, has died. UniFirst announced his death on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Ronald D. (Ron) Croatti has been on the job as chief executive officer at UniFirst Corporation for 26 years.
UniFirst did not name a replacement for the position of chief executive officer.
UniFirst said: “UniFirst Corporation (UNF) earlier today announced the passing of Ronald D. Croatti, the company’s chairman, president, and chief executive officer (CEO), as a result of complications associated with pneumonia.”
On the job as CEO since 1991
Croatti, UniFirst Chairman, President, and CEO, joined the Company in 1965 under the tutelage of his father and Company founder, Aldo Croatti.
Throughout the years he gained valuable, first-hand experience by working in virtually all areas of the Company, excelling in service, sales, operations, and management before being named a senior executive.
Since Croatti became the Company’s Chief Executive Officer in 1991, President in 1995, and Chairman of the Board in 2002, UniFirst has more than quadrupled its annual revenues to well over $1 billion.
Ron Croatti and UniFirst were regularly recognized in the media over the years.
Croatti was named Executive of the Year by the Best in Biz Awards and was featured on CBS-TV’s hit reality show “Undercover Boss.”
UniFirst has been ranked by Forbes magazine on its “Platinum 400-Best Companies in America” list; named by Apparel magazine as one of “America’s Top 50 Apparel Companies” for nine consecutive years; named one of Selling Power magazine’s “Top 50 Best Companies to Sell For” every year since 2003; and recognized annually by the Boston Globe on its “Globe 100” list for the last 28 years.
