(exechange) — Hamilton, Bermuda, May 22, 2017 — Mark Smith, finance chief of Enstar, hands over the reins. As announced by Enstar Group Limited in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Monday, May 22, 2017, Mark W. Smith leaves the post as Chief Financial Officer at the insurance group after around two years on the job, effective December 31, 2017.
Smith’s duties are taken over by Guy Bowker, currently Chief Accounting Officer and Deputy CFO at Enstar Group Limited.
The move is a generational change as well. Guy Bowker is about 23 years younger than Mark Smith.

The management change is explained as follows. Dominic Silvester, Chief Executive Officer, said: “When [Mark Smith] joined us in 2015, his key objectives were to strengthen the Group Finance function and to develop a successor, which he has now accomplished.”
Precise information about the future plans of Smith was not immediately available.
Enstar said: “Smith has served as Enstar’s CFO since August 2015 and will step down on December 31, 2017.”
Share price rise since February 2009
The change follows a rise in the share price of Enstar Group Limited since February 2009.

Mark Smith was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Company in August 2015.
He had been a Partner at Deloitte & Touche, Bermuda since 1988 in Deloitte’s accounting and auditing services group, where he had a distinguished public accounting career specializing in the insurance industry.
Smith most recently served as the head of the financial advisory practice at Deloitte & Touche, Bermuda and as chairman of the Insurance Advisory Committee, a Bermuda statutory committee that provides advice on insurance regulatory matters.
He will move into a consulting role for Enstar beginning January 1, 2018.
