(exechange) — Alpharetta, Georgia, March 30, 2017 — Frederic Villoutreix, chief executive of Schweitzer-Mauduit, leaves the position. It is a change at short notice. As announced by Schweitzer-Mauduit International, Inc. in a news release and in a regulatory filing published on Thursday, March 30, 2017, Frederic P. Villoutreix, Chief Executive Officer, leaves the producer of specialty papers and resin-based products in a surprising move after around eight years on the job, effective May 05, 2017.
Villoutreix’ duties are taken over by Jeffrey Kramer, most recently Vice President, Lubricants at Brenntag AG.
Kramer, who will also become a member of the Board of Directors, will join the Company on April 21 and serve as Co-CEO with Villoutreix until May 5. Subsequent to that transition period he will become the sole CEO.
The fact that Villoutreix’ successor is brought in from outside suggests that the board may seek to stimulate change with fresh ideas and new initiatives.
“The time was right for him personally and professionally”
The imminent management change is explained as follows. Schweitzer-Mauduit said: “The Board of Directors initiated the search for his successor at the request of Mr. Villoutreix, who expressed his view that the time was right for him personally and professionally to transition out of the CEO and Chairman roles.”
Precise information about the future plans of Villoutreix was not immediately available.

Following his departure date, Villoutreix will provide consulting services to the Board and CEO as requested through February 28, 2018.
